Position Summary:
As an Estimator, you will collaborate closely with your colleagues to calculate the costs involved in completing various construction projects. Your responsibilities will include analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to develop accurate time, cost, material, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services. As part of the operations team, you play a crucial role in advancing our goal of building vibrant and welcoming communities.
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Maintain total variance percentage of house budgets for completed projects within the target range of 0% - 1%.
  • Minimize errors in Estimates for Purchase Orders (EPOs) at an individual level.
  • Optimize cycle times for the department.
  • Keep the average number of variances per closed project within the department's goals.
  • Minimize estimating variances per completed project.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Conduct detailed quantity take-offs to develop accurate estimates based on project drawings and specifications.
  • Interpret architectural plans and documents to assess project needs.
  • Prepare and manage timely and accurate EPO reviews and releases, coordinating with site supervisors.
  • Track and ensure EPO reviews and releases adhere to established schedules.
  • Assist with onboarding and maintaining records for trade partners.
  • Monitor and update vendor pricing regularly.
  • Track job variances related to EPOs and adjust as needed.
  • Ensure budgets are up-to-date with current pricing information.
  • Estimate material requirements and options based on requests from the Purchasing Manager.
  • Support training efforts for new team members regarding EPOs.
  • Prepare weekly status updates for the Purchasing Manager.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Experience working with US based companies using estimating software/AutoCAD/REVIT
  • Preferred: Associate degree in construction management or a related field, or equivalent experience from a two-year college or technical school.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in the single-family construction industry, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Strong experience in material quantity take-offs is required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs
  • Experience with Hyphen Solutions/BRIX preferred
